About America's Got Talent

If you are a fan of talent shows,then you have probably already heard about America's Got Talent, the American televised reality talent show. Broadcast on the NBC television network, America's Got Talent showcases performers who are competing to win a million dollar prize and the chance to perform in a Las Vegas show. The main draw of the program is that it offers unknown amateur singers, dancers, comedians and magicians the opportunity to achieve their dreams.
About the judges
Since the show debuted in 2006, America's Got Talent contestants have been judged by a panel of three judges. Of the original judges, only Piers Morgan has served in all six seasons. Although they both began as judges with Morgan in the first season, Brandy Norwood left after only one year and David Hasselhoff stayed for four. Following close behind Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne has been a judge on the show from the second season through the current 2011 season. Howie Mandel has been a judge since season five.
About the hosts
Regis Philbin hosted the show during its first season. Nick Cannon, the current host, has held that position since the show's fourth season. He replaced Jerry Springer, who hosted America's Got Talent during the show's second and third seasons.
Popularity
America is crazy about America's Got Talent. Since its first episode, the show has proven to be popular with the US television audience, making it a consistent ratings winner for NBC. In 2011, America's Got Talent was nominated for a People's Choice Award for Favorite Competition Show and for a Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Reality Show, but it did not win in either category.
America's Got Talent offers the American viewing audience a chance to cast votes for their favorite performers while watching hearts break and dreams come true.
